AUTUMN IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

My favorite time of year, autumn, has arrived in full swing. It seems to have peaked early this year, as the leaves are already a magical mix of rich reds, bright oranges, and loud yellows. The hillsides have turned into an artist’s heaven.

I love when the air turns crisp and dry, blowing the humidity of the summer away. The leaves gently float down to rest, and dot the roads with a colorful top coat.

When I went up to the lake this past weekend, the water was still, creating a mirrored surface that doubled the spectacular opposing hillside.

This year has brought about a lot of change and uncertainty. I think I’ve relied on the constant joy that autumn brings every year, knowing even during a pandemic, this bliss will still arrive.

This year has also reiterated to me the importance of movement. Having access to nature has been therapeutic, as it helps my mental health immensely. Exercise, especially when the weather is cooler, is the boost needed to maintain stability.

I’m looking forward to enjoying the next few months of 2020 as I seek placidity in the natural world; it seems the human world isn’t going to bring about serenity anytime soon.

If anything, I hope this post was a little reminder to breathe and go outside. Fresh air is priceless.
