THE MAGIC OF LOWER SLAUGHTER | COTSWOLDS, ENGLAND
After visiting many of the villages that make up the Cotswolds, I can confidently say that Lower Slaughter is one of my favorites. There’s something about the small, truly quaint nature of this place that makes it different from all the other villages. The center of town has a picturesque stream running through the middle. It looks like something out of Disney!
Lower Slaughter even sounds like the name of a village from a Disney movie. Lower Slaughter comes from the old English word ‘slough’ or ‘slothre’, which means muddy place, or wet land.
Just behind this little mill is a wonderful restaurant with homemade soups and sandwiches. The meal was delicious! I’d highly recommend stopping here for lunch on your tour around the Cotswolds.
The population of Lower Slaughter is 236 people! There are a few luxury hotels, a perfect wedding destination if you ask me!
Many of the classic Limestone cottages have been very well preserved by their current owners.
There aren’t many, but there are a few small shops around town! They are filled with locally made products and gifts.
I hope you enjoyed stepping into Lower Slaughter!
