ABOUT

St. Paul’s Cathedral is an incredibly popular site to visit in London. Construction on this cathedral began in June of 1675 and has since been repaired/rebuilt due to a variety of fires followed by bombings during WW2. It was designed by Christopher Wren, a highly acclaimed English architect, along with a clerk Nicholas Hawksmoor. Many famous events have taken place in the cathedral, such as the funeral of Sir Winston Churchill and the wedding of Lady Diana Spencer and Price Charles (to name a few).

VISIT

While visiting the cathedral, there are a few things to take note of. First, check the schedule online to make sure there are no special services going on that would interrupt a normal visit to the cathedral. This schedule can be found here. Second, if you are a student, you get a discount (buy as a “concession” ticket-I paid £15.00). Third, you can save a bit of money if you buy your ticket online. To do this, click here. Lastly, know that there is no photography allowed inside the cathedral. As this is quite heartbreaking (especially to someone obsessed with taking photos), it is important to be respectful. However, this doesn’t mean you won’t be able to get some great shots. There are many levels in St. Paul’s Cathedral that can be accessed by stairs… and there are lots of them. Below is a diagram of these galleries. There are both inside and outside balconies, and from them you can see incredible sights. Again, no photography from the inside balconies, so be sure to go outside with your camera.
