HIKING FROM LENK TO GSTAAD

Calling all hikers! This hike was one to remember. We took a train from Gstaad to Lenk, Switzerland in order to get on the trail. This included a gondola ride to the top of a mountain. What’s great about this hike are the views, and they start at the very beginning. We walked along the Wasserngrat Ridge back to Gstaad and came down the ski mountain (Wasserngrat Ski Mountain). Here is a map outlining the rough location of the hike.

CHARACTERISTICS OF HIKE

While this hike is amazing, it will definitely be challenging for some people. There are areas of the hike where the trails are close to knife-edge (meaning not any wider that body width). This can be scary for some people, although I personally never felt unsafe. On areas where there isn’t much room, there are sometimes wires to hold onto that have been bolted into the mountain. The Swiss are incredible about maintaining their trails and infrastructure, so you don’t need to worry about things being out of date. We even saw a man weed whacking along the ridge! The hike took roughly 6-7 hours..make sure you wear sunscreen and bring lots of water.
