WHAT’S IN MY PHOTOGRAPHY BAG?

I get asked questions about which cameras and lenses I use a lot. I figured I would show you which ones I use and for what purpose.

THE CAMERA BODY

I am currently using the Canon 80D camera body for all my photos. I chose this body because of the stabilization, image processor (I prefer Canon over Nikon), and the price. This is a great value for the cost, as opposed to the Canon 5D range. While those camera are top of the line, the price was way too high for me. I’ve been very happy with the 80D!

THE LENSES

I use three different lenses depending on what I’m shooting. I recently purchased one of my dream lenses, the Canon 35mm f/1.4. This lens is sharp, it’s resolving power is impressive, the shots come out incredibly detailed without much color fringing. This is thanks to Canon’s new Blue Spectrum Refractive Optics. This lens is a part of the Canon L Series, “L” standing for “low disperation”. I’m planning on using this lens for most portraiture in the future.

Before my recent purchase of the 35mm f/1.4 (shown above), I used this lens for all my portraiture and product shots. I liked the ability to switch from a short depth of field, but then a longer depth of field if I needed.

TAMRON 20-70MM F/2.8

I use this lens when I travel a lot. It gives me enough flexibility with the zoom function but can also give me a decent short depth of field when needed. I like this lens for landscape photography.
