VISITING STOW-ON-THE-WOLD AND BOURTON-ON-THE-WATER | COTSWOLDS, ENGLAND

Welcome back to the Cotswolds! Today’s post will take you along to Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water, two villages that are a part of the Cotswolds in the English countryside. How charming are the names?!

STOW-ON-THE-WOLD

Let’s start with Stow-on-the-Wold. This village is slightly more commercial than the other villages. There are many shops, pubs, and hotels in Stow. It’s set on a hill which makes for some great views of the vast countryside. During our quick visit, we walked through the center of town, poked in a few shops, and then set off for Bourton. Here’s what we saw!

Stow-on-the-Wold was founded by Normans, who took advantage of the placement of the village; set on a hill near converging roads, this spot was perfect for trade.

BOURTON-ON-THE-WATER

Next, we went to Bourton-on-the-Water for tea. This village was very touristy and full of energy. Lots of people were out and about grabbing a bite to eat, enjoying a Sunday walk, or having a look around the shops.

The water you see above is known as the River Windrush. Standing above it is the Motor Museum that features vintage cars and toys.

Bourton, though touristy, was so much fun to explore. If you’re looking to have an elaborate tea, I’d recommend making a reservation as some of the main tearooms are fill up quickly.
