HIKING IN APPENZELL, SWITZERLAND

Switzerland has some of the best hiking in the world. With views that you’ll never forget and a large variety of choice in length/elevation gain, there are options for varying levels of ability. Popular villages often have lifts that you can take to the top to save your legs some uphill. There are also many alpine restaurants that provide an ideal hiking break (think beer, rösti, and coupe denmark). If you manage to stay awake after your meal, you can enjoy the amazing views, cow bells, and fresh air all the way back down.

For this particular hike, we took the lift from Brulisau up to the top of the ridge and walked over to Berggasthaus Staubern for lunch. I obviously ordered a rösti.

After lunch, we continued along the ridge and descended right in front of Santis, a very famous peak known for it’s visual similarity to the peaks in the Dolomites.
