ASCONA, SWITZERLAND
Ahhhh, the Swiss Riveria. My kind of place..seriously. I would live here if I could. Crystal clear lakes surrounded by beautiful mountains, does it get any better? Good question. Staying in the town of Ascona was delightfully relaxing. There are many hotel options in Ascona, and we stayed at the Hotel Giardino. Check out my other blog post all about the hotel here. The town is full of delicious food and fun boutiques (lots of Italian influence because Ascona is located in the Italian region of Switzerland. So yes, they speak Italian here!). There are also many activities to do on the lake (Lago Maggiore), like paddle boarding, paddle boating, cruising over to the Isole di Brissago, an island with a beautiful botanical garden, and more. The town is perfect for children, as there are many activities in which they can partake, such as biking on quality bike paths, trampolining lakeside, walking, and sitting by the water at many of the various beach/lawn fronts (not to mention, SWIMMING). Speaking of walking, there are numerous walking paths (that are bike friendly) into town. Even though The Sound of Music took place in Austria, I couldn’t help but sing all of the songs while aimlessly peddling through the luscious parks next to the lake. If you want a true getaway in a town that is rich in Swiss and Italian culture, mixed with luxury, Ascona is your dream destination. Here are some photos from our stay!
